McCain picks Palin - Yawn to Yippee in.25 seconds Minimize

In a sane world we would realize that between Obama and McCain, the latter is the more qualified for the most important job in the free world.  Personally, I am not all that thrilled with McCain, but my side lost that fight.

I think it reflects well on the nation that Obama is the nominee for the Democrats in a very limited "see, a black dude can make it" sort of way, but again, I would rather the first anything president (woman, Jew, mime) first and foremost be qualified.  I think the job of President is far more important than just ticking off a historical "first" milestone.  Obama couldn't get a job being my boss with his resume, much less the top executive of this most important of nations.  Billions of people around the world depend upon the United States being strong both economically and militarily.  They may not appreciate it, but their need doesn't disappear just because they don't recognize it.

So much of the Democrat's shtick is to tell people how victimized they are, and how they are going to stick it to The Man to make it all better.  Class Warfare and Class Envy are the deep, toxic wells they draw from.  The brackish hole right next to class warfare is identity politics.  The United States stands far and away beyond other nations as far as being open and welcoming of all nations, colors, creeds and genders to live work and be.  Far from ideal, we are still the nation least deserving of a stern lecture about opportunities for minorities and women.  This is far and away the bast place to be if you are not a white man Europeans ancestry.

That does not stop our Democrat friends from rhetorical excess about how they and only they care about the downtrodden who are trod down because of their identity.  The great Democrat masses ululate - at least the Hollywood/Washington elite and their sycophants - because Obama is of a favored minority.  Take away his charm (which is substantial) and intelligence (which is obvious) Obama is just another liberal Democrat who has never had to make a payroll.

McCain's VP choice, Sarah "Barracuda" Palin is a brilliant long-bomb game-changing play.  Her social conservative and fiscal responsibility cred is very strong and she pisses off all the right people.  She seems very sharp and compared to the inchoate shrillness of Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton people will be able to look at her and not see someone's ex-wife.  I hope the McCain campaign flood the zone with people who can help Palin navigate the wicked estuaries of the press and allow her to talk over the heads of the media gatekeepers and shove identity politics down the throats of those who live by them.

Palin is not the most qualified person if all you care about is experience, but I think she is the best choice to get elected.  Experience don't mean a thing if you lose.

For the love of God, I cannot believe you LIKE PALIN! Wow.. I have voted Republican for 20 years, but the day McCain picked her, hello Obama.

You are right, picking her was a long bomb, sadly, and American people have already figured out it's a ball not worth catching.
